VER Y member defiringa book, fhall apply for it between the hours of fix and eight in the even- ing on Mondays, and five and fix on other evenings 5 and fhall write down on a flip of paper, the number and title, and fhall fign and date it; The librarian or his deputy íhall file the paper, and fhall deliver it back, or cancel it, when the book is returned to the library ; andany perfon taking a book without fuch written acknow- ledgement, fhall forfeit three times its value. II. No member fhall haye more than two volumes at atime in his poffeffion, IIl. Any member detaining a pamphlet or volume in duodecimo above .one week 3 an octavo two weeks ; a quarto three weeks ; or afolio four weeks, íhall be liable toa penalty of one, twos three, or four fhillings, in proportion to the fize, for each week he fhall detain it, provided fuch penalty exceed not half the value affixed to the book by the council. IV. Manufcripts, and books of value, are not to be taken out of the: library without a written permiflion from the council. V. ΑἹ] pamphlets and books fhall remain in the library for the fpace of one, two, three, or four weeks, (accordiág to their fize,) after they have been received. VI. A member who fhalliofe, or injurea book belong- ing tothe fociety, íhall replace it, or make fuch com- penfation as the council may think proper. VII. No member without]leave of the librarian or his deputy, fhalltake any book frorn its place. Vli. All books fhall be returned before the general meeting in. March, fo: the infpection of the librarian on entering into his office.
