About this work

Description

Watercolour drawing, with oil detail, of an infant's brain who died from cerebro-spinal meningitis (not tubercular). The whole brain and cord was smeared with thick purulent fluid. The ventricles contained no abnormal fluid but showed numerous bright red ecchymoses on the pia mater as shown in the drawing. No trace of tubercle was found in any organ.
