About this work

Description

17th and 18th century English recipe book comprising culinary receipts, along with a small amount of medical receipts, in several hands.

Divided into two sections, both indexed. The front of the book contains medical receipts. The index to this section is preceded by a page laying out apothecary marks and other abbreviations. The back section contains culinary receipts.

Includes "Directions for ye use of medicines in a physick chest, fitt for travelling by sea or Land" (p. 117)

Medical receipts are followed by a "Corect list of Every thing in season in every month in the year" and a few further culinary recipes. A few loose recipes inserted at the beginning of this section.
