About this work

Description

At some time renamed The Lawns. The building was demolished following the complete closure of Shenley Hospital in 1998. In its place new apartments were built in a gated estate, also known as The Lawns

Lettering

Middlesex County Mental Hospital, Porters Park, Shenley. Main elevation to the nurses home. W.T. Curtis, F.R.I.B.A., county architect. Artificial stone has been used for the dressings, the walls being built with multi-coloured red bricks. Messrs. John Laing & son, Ltd., are the general contractors for the whole hospital.
