The engraving shows a village in Eski Crim ( Old Crimea, the ancient capital of Taurica) with some villagers and their sheep. The sea of Azov is seen in distance. The Crimean Peninsula was historically known as Tauris or the Tauric Chersonese ("Tauric peninsula")
