Description

Illustration of a world picture from the Kalmuck people. The square in the middle is Mount Sumeru (Meru) and four faces representing the four continents, published in Holmberg, Uno: Finno-Ugric, Siberian (Mythology), 1927. A print of the negative was accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930 (accession number PHO 88)
