About this work

Description

Protective footware This is an example of protective footwear for leprosy patients with anaesthetic feet. The sandal has a moulded 'plastazote' insole, a soft microcellular rubber middle sole and a firm outer sole. These all serve to control mobility of the foot and distribute weight evenly during walking. Properly designed footwear plays an important role in the prevention of ulceration in leprosy patients with insensitive feet.
