Mosaic was launched on 4 March 2014. It is published by the Wellcome Trust but is editorially independent, featuring articles relevant to Wellcome's mission without being restricted to Wellcome-funded research. Articles are published under a Creative Commons licence.
The site was relaunched in February 2018 with a new design and search functionalities.
