![XI 66 Brook Street, Grosvenor Square W July 8, 1884 Dr Donald MacAlister can hardly I think require any testimony of his high qualifications for the ap- pointment of Physician to Addenbrooke’s Hospital ; but I am glad of the opportunity of expressing the hope, in the best interests of the institution, that he may be elected to the office. Wm S. SAVORY [F.7\.S., Senior Surgeon and Lecturer on Surgery to St Bartholomew's Hospital] XII 36 Bruton Street, Berkeley Square W I had the pleasure of knowing Dr Donald MacAlister intimately when he was working at St Bartholomew's Hospital. It is needless to say that he displayed all those qualities which mark a student of the highest class: but I may be allowed to state that he was evidently imbued with a strong feeling of devotion to the profession of medicine, and that he used every means of acquiring a thorough knowledge of it, and of gaining an insight into the practical management of patients. He worked hard in the various Departments of the Hospital, and for some time attended my Demonstrations of Surgery. At a later period he rendered services that were on all sides highly appreciated by taking charge of the Class of Natural Philosophy. I consider Dr MacAlister to be eminently qualified for the highly important and responsible post which Dr Paget has just resigned at the Addenbrooke’s Hospital of Cambridge.
