Description

Fifteen letters from Francis Galton to his father Samuel Tertius Galton.

The letters from June to September 1838 describe Galton's trip to Europe with [William] Bowman and Russell, starting with his journey to London to obtain a passport and letter of introduction, and then proceeding to Antwerp, Brussels, Mechlin, Liege, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Prague, Dresden and Berlin, before returning home via Kirk Ella.

The letters from October to December 1838 describe his time at the General Hospital Birmingham, and his German and Mathematics studies.
