About this work

Description

Design for a window in the church of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in Paris. Saint Martin holds a book containing the words "Fides sine operibus mortua est" (faith without deeds is dead). The border contains episodes in the life of the saint which are not present in the finished window, where they are replaced by an oak-leaf pattern
