Biographical note

Pontefest was hosted by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund on 24th June 2000 to honour Pontecorvo's life and contributions to genetics. His daughter, Lisa, spent a lot of time helping to organise the event with the assistance of his colleagues at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. They invited some of Pontecorvo's closest friends and colleagues to say a few words about him at the event, but they also asked for those who couldn't attend the event in London to send along written memories or reminiscences about Pontecorvo. These written contributions were added to an album with photos and other biographical information, which was compiled after the event for the Pontecorvo family.

The contributions from friends and colleagues in this album show how Pontecorvo was adored and loved by all who met him. They also highlight Pontecorvo's large network of colleagues from around the world, and their opinions of his influence and legacy in the field of genetics.
