About this work

Description

July 11th 1987 marked (approximately) the day when the world's population reached 5 billion. From this day on an annual 'World Population Day' is held and is now organised UNFPA. Population Concern was involved in this inaugural event and did several promotional activities, including getting one of their patrons; Susan Hampshire to speak at their events for the day.

The papers include notes, press cuttings, a photograph, and correspondence on the several events organised for the Day of Five Billion.
