Description
This recording is of interviews with former colleagues and pupils of pioneering cardiologist, Sir Thomas Lewis. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Arthur Hollman in preparation for his biography on Lewis: 'Sir Thomas Lewis: pioneer cardiologist and clinical scientist', London; New York: Springer, c1996. Dr. E.S. Stern, interviewed 7 May 1975. Mr. Edward Bridger, interviewed 30 July 1975, knew Lewis between 1926-1933 when he was a chief technician at Middlesex Hospital and UCH. Sir Seewoosagur Ramboolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, was a student of Lewis at UCH in 1920s, then worked at UCH in 1929. He recollects his time at the hospital and recounts stories of Lewis and his colleagues and his own fellow students and colleagues. He is interviewed 21 September 1977.
