About this work

Description

Black and white photograph of a Chinese leper who had suffered from the disease for 20 years. The digital phalanges have undergone varying degrees of ulceration and necrosis. Photograph presented to the Museum by John Preston Maxwell, FRCS, medical missionary in Fujian, China and Barts alumnus.
