About this work

Description

Collection of seven alchemical tracts, in French translations, and abridged. The first work is illustrated by Chinese alchemical characters and ideograms in red. Written by the same hand throughout, in a somewhat ornamental script. Notes: No. 2 This seems to be a version of the 'Disceptatio de lapide physico', which was published together with Pantaleon's 'Tumba Semiramidis' in 1674. Ferguson suggests it was also written by Pantaleon, though apparently a criticism of the 'Tumba'. [Cf. Bibliotheca Chemica, Vol. II, pp. 164-166.] No. 4 No English writer of this name has been traced. A Johann Thomas Hensing [1683-1726] was professor of chemistry and natural philosophy at Giessen [cf. Ferguson, op. cit. Vol. I, p. 387, Vol. II, p. 543].
