About this work

Description

An extensive collection of receipts, mainly medical, with a few veterinary receipts, but including also many for cosmetics, 'secrets' of various kinds, details of inventions, household receipts, etc. Among the medical receipts are long sections on purgatives and blood-letting, and on diseases of the eye, including on pp. 245-270 'Description anatomique de l'oeuil suivant le sistème et d'après Mr. Jannin, célèbre oculiste' (i.e. Jean Janin de Combe-Blanche [1731-1799]). The date 1782 is found on p. 20, and 1784 on p. 24 of the last section. Produced in Paris.

Library-stamp of 'Huzard de l'Institut': this MS. is No. 2033 in Vol. III of the 'Catalogue de la Bibliothèque de Mr. J. B. Huzard'. 1842 by P. Leblanc (i.e. Jean Baptiste Huzard [1793-1838]). On the first leaf also is an inscription: 'Don fait à Mr. Courbaissec, Vétérinaire, par Madm. Mogis d'Aurillac', by an early 19th cent. hand.
