Description

Black and white photograph of the face, neck and shoulders of a woman aged 21 years, who in 1890 had been operated upon for a goitre, the right lobe of the thyroid gland having been removed. Subsequently the left lobe had become enlarged, and she developed slight symptoms of myxoedema or 'cachexia thyreopriva.' Front view.
