    EXTRACTS FROM THE RULES AND BYE-LAWS REGULATING THE PRIVILEGES OF BENEFACTORS, SUBSCRIBERS, ETC. 2. A Benefactor of Twenty Guineas or upwards, in one or two payments, shall be a Governor for Life. An Annual Subscriber of Two Guineas or upwards shall be a Governor during the continuance of the Subscription. A Benefactor of Ten Guineas in one payment, who also subscribes One Guinea annually, shall be a Governor during the continuance of the Subscription. 3. When Partners, or other Persons, jointly become Benefactors or Annual Subscribers, the first-named Partner or Person shall have the rights of a Governor in respect of such joint Benefaction or Subscription ; and if the amount be sufficient to qualify more than one Governor, the next in order of such joint Benefactors or Subscribers shall have the rights of a Governor so far as the sums subscribed will extend to qualify 4. The Chairman of any Public Body, Body Corporate, or Society, subscribing Three Guineas or upwards annually, shall be a Governor during the continuance of the Subscription ; but no privilege shall attach to such Chairman in respect of any Benefaction. Twenty-four Governors may be appointed by the Leeds Workpeople’s Hospital Fund Committee, in virtue of the contributions derived by the Infirmary through the agency of such Committee. Executors of Wills under which the Infirmary benefits to the extent of £100, may have one of their number appointed a Governor. 6. All Subscriptions shall be considered due in advance on the 1st day of January in each year ; and shall be supposed to continue, unless the Subscriber gives notice to the contrary. 7. The Vote of any Subscriber, whose subscription has not been paid before the 1st of July in any year, shall not be received unless the same be paid at the time of voting. 33. Persons who are able to pay for medical advice, domestic servants and apprentices whose masters are able to provide for them, and soldiers and militia¬ men whose officers and others engage to pay for them, may be admitted, by order of the WTeekly Board, upon payment of such charge as the said Board may direct. 34. No one shall be admitted or suffered to remain as an In-patient who is capable of receiving equal benefit as an Out-patient. 36. No woman near the time of her confinement (except in extraordinary oases, or where some surgical operation is required), no persons disordered in their senses, subject to epileptic fits, suspected to have the small-pox or other infectious distemper, having habitual ulcers, or the venereal disease (unless in the cases hereafter excepted), no persons in consumption, nor any who are adjudged incurable, shall be admitted as In-patients, or, if inadvertently admitted, shall be suffered to remain. 54. The Diet of the Patients shall be under the regulation of their respective Physician or Surgeon ; and no provisions or liquors shall be brought into the House to the Patients on any pretence whatever. The friends of any patient offending against this Rule shall not again be allowed to visit the Patient. 55. The friends of Patients will be admitted into the wards, with leave of the General Manager, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, between the hours of Two and Four. 68. Any Patient, or any person bearing office or serving in the Infirmary, who shall directly or indirectly give to or take from any Tradesman, Patient, SerVant, Stranger, or other person whatsoever, any fee, reward, or gratuity for any service connected with the Infirmary, shall be liable to expulsion.
