Glasgow College, March 5th, 1874.—There was Proposal to read an Excerpt Minute of Meeting of the Univer- chaTrsofcuS sity Court of date February 25th, intimating and Surgery. • •••••••• 4. That the Court remitted to the Senate two pro- posals for tlie foundation of Chairs of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Surgery in the University for their opinion as to the advisability of erecting these Chairs, and also that the Court had appointed a Committee to ascertain and report how far the Court or the Senate have power of themselves to erect such chairs, and whether it is necessary or expedient to obtain the sanction of the Crown thereto. The proposals for founding two new Chairs were communicated to the Court in the following letters :— 14 Lynedoch Crescent, Glasgow, 14th Februaiy, 1874. Reverend Sir, I am instructed by the family of the late Dr. Moses Steven Buchanan, Surgeon in Glasgow, to intimate that in memory of their father they are prepared to offer to the University the sum of £2,200, A
