Biographical note

Probably a transcript of one of the 1697 London editions, recorded in the 'Term Catalogues', Vol. III, where the work is ascribed to 'C.K.' Ferguson, however, in his 'Bibliographical notes on Histories of Inventions and Books of Secrets' Sixth Supplement, pp. 2-20, appears to prove that the author of this and other similar popular receipt-books was a certain John White, otherwise unknown, and that 'C.K.' was only the writer of some additions to later issues of White's book.
