File includes: copy letter from Wilkins to Home Secretary Reginald Maudling, 10 Dec 1971; reply from the Home Office, 16 Dec 1971, refusing the request, letter to Wilkins from Prof Richard Doll, 15 Dec 1971, suggesting alternative members of the BSSRS investigation; reply from Wilkins to Doll, 17 Dec 1971, on the moral obligation upon BSSRS to act.
