Residents continue to rely on the Council's services for clearing choked drains, partly as a result of difficulty in procuring the services of a plumber or builder to attend to such matters. The Council are under no obligation to clear choked private drainage systems, but the continuance of such a service is advisable to prevent complaints and nuisances arising therefrom \/hich, in any case, the Council might eventually have to deal with under their statutory pov/ers. A charge is made to cover the cost of clearing private drains. Improvements secured at food premises are shown on page 39* Notices.
