Dr. V.S. Ramachandran (Univ. of California, San Diego) examines recognition problems and severe epileptic seizures which are accompanied by visions and intense religious experiences. He explains the brain's different recognition systems which make it possible for one man to navigate and recognize voices but not faces, and for another to recognize family and friends, yet believe that they are imposters.
