Therefore, as fome Apothecaries have refufed attending Pa¬ tients where I was called in, and others to accept of my Reme- diesy I was under a Neceffity of providing myfelf from time to time with fuch Shop-Medicines as I found neceffary; and I thought proper to offer all fuch Perfons as applied to me diretfly for Advice^ that they fhould have all the Medicines Gratis, which fliould be prefcribed by me alone, or in Confultation with other Phypcians} nor did I expert any greater or other Pee (a) on account thereof, than what is given to a regular Phyfician : And this produced the difperfmg among my Acquaintance the Plan (h) of my prefent Method of Practice 3 which I defign to continue. r- In Confutations with my Brethren, I fhall inform them of the Intentions and Operations of fuch of theje Remedies, which, fhall have been given the Patient, before their being called in , but while I am joined with another Phyfician in Confultation, I fhall only propofe the Ufe of fuch Medicines as he is already acquainted with, and that we both equally know the Effects of. I likewife propofed to Perfons of Fortune, who have the GenSrofity to take care of their Servants when fick; to /mall Families ; or even to fmgle Per/ons j to have agreed with them for a certain Salary by the Year, computing at about a Guinea for each Perfon : This I was encouraged to undertake, from the great Efficacy of theje Remediesy when Patients fend to me as foon as they fall lick, for then I have the Dillempers to encounter as Nature has formed them.
