About this work
Description
122,000 teachers in sub-Saharan Africa are estimated to be living with HIV, many of whom don't know their status. In 2007, a network of journalists compiled a book, 'Courage & Hope,' telling the first-hand stories of African teachers who are HIV positive. Here, four Kenyan teachers, Beldina Atieno, Martin Mkug Ptoch, Jemimah Nindo and Margaret Wambete detail the challenges they face once their HIV positive status becomes public. Despite this, they are confident that finding medical care and support will enable them to live and enjoy healthy lives.
