    Hammond's Improved Curative Apparatus. form of a circle, which has at the lower part of the circle a pad raised so as to cause extra pressure on a certain portion of the urethra and raphe. This apparatus I apply, for the cure of spermatorrhoea, specially also for genital weakness and debility, and attach it to an ordinary suspensory bandage, or it 5 may be otherwise sustained by a belt or other contrivance. To the belt I attach electric plates at intervals to induce galvanic action. The apparatus consisting of a series of pieces of metal before mentioned may be in alternate pairs of electric plates ; I term it self-adjusting curative apparatus. It. is worn on the penis, which it encircles, and exerts an elastic pressure thereon, 10 the pad being at the bottom part and pressing on the raphe as before-mentioned, on either side are two button knobs by which it is attached to a suspensory belt or bandage worn round the body. V * Description of Drawings. Fig. 1 represents a view of the apparatus complete, applied to an ordinary 15 suspensory bandage, while Figs. 2 and 3 represent front and side views of the apparatus detached, Fig. 2 a front view, and Fig. 3 a side view. It consists of a series of small metallic plates a, 5, having lateral holes through them, by which they are threaded on slight elastic cords e, e9 in the form of a ring or circle as seen, the plates are represented of an oval form and flat, but may be 20 varied in form if required ; they are arranged in pairs alternately a zinc with a brass or copper plate, forming a voltaic pole of slight power, a, a, being the zinc, and b, b, the brass plates. To the two side plates are appended two small knobs c, c, by which the apparatus is attached to the belt by two pieces of silk band or cord d, or it may be otherwise attached thereto. The inner 25 edges of the plates should be rounded to prevent abrasion of the cuticle. At the lower part of the apparatus is adjusted the pad /, which is threaded on the elastic cords e, e, in the circle of the plates a, b, or the ends of the cords may be secured to this pad, but in any case forming a part of the circle. This pad I cover with some soft elastic material, such as velvet, and if necessary stuff it 30 with elastic material, or in some cases I place chemical ingredients to act astringently or otherwise, as may be required, according to circumstances. This pad, as before-mentioned, is disposed so as to press on the raphe when worn on tbe person. The elastic cords should be regulated in length so as to produce the necessary compression and contraction in the circular direction, and at the 35 same time allowing the edges of the plates a and b to touch each other in order to induce the galvanic action, which also prevents any excessive pressure at that part.
