SANITARY COMMISSION. No. 39. THIRD REPORT CONCERNING THE %xto anb Comfort giton bg % Sanitarj Commission SICK SOLDIERS PASSING THROUGH WASHINGTON. BY FREDERICK N. KNAPP, 8PECIAL BELIEF AGENT. Washington, March 21, 1862. To Feed. Law Olmsted, Secretary Sanitary Commission. Sir : My last report bore date of October 21. Since that time to the present, the work upon our hands has steadily increased. More room, more money, more time, more medical attendance, have all been demanded. Fewer new regiments have arrived of late, but the regiments already in the field having become more generally acquainted with our plans for rendering help, are now in the habit of send- ing directly to our care sick and discharged men, who come to the city from the various regimental hospitals to obtain their pay and to start for home. During the last two months, quite a number of men have been sent to us thus, even from the more distant regiments
