    NîajJL&Ù, '?M. C. CßiCk. My theme, in this Symposium, is underlined by my position on the program after Dr. Shannon, and before TA Drs. Ko$berg and Macloed. I shall not be concerned jp with the transfer of energy so much as with the transfer of biological information, both generally from cell to Claudi'er cell, and also from the genetic vwto the rest of the cell. My aim is to outline the general aspects of these problems - those of gene replication and gene action - and to describe the biological mole- cules involved, so that Dr. Künaberg can describe w kdlr Vre. k*M¡sw of their biochemical synthesis and Dr. Macloed can enlarge on the best example we have of a molecule with genetic properties.
