    NUCLEIC ACIDS P. K* C. Crick My theme# is this Symposium, is underlined by my position on the program after Dr. Shannon, and before Drs. ¡Cornberg and Maeleod. I shall not be concerned with the transfer of energy so much as with the trans fer of biological information, both genetically from cell to daughter cell, and also from the genetic mater ial to the rest of the cell. My aim is to outline the general aspects of these problems - those of gene repli cation and gene action - and to describe the biological molecules involved, so that Dr. Kornberg can describe what we know of their biochemical synthesis and Dr. Macloed can enlarge on the best example we have of a molecule with genetic -properties. :
