Acquired by Thomas Arundel (1585-1646), 2nd Earl of Arundel, probably from Imhoff's heirs. Inherited by Henry Howard (1628-1684), 6th Duke of Norfolk. Presented by Howard to the Royal Society, probably in 1667 (its ink stamp 'Soc. Reg. Lond / ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis, sig. A1v). Sold by the Royal Society (its ink stamp 'ROY. SOC. SOLD, sig [O7r]), purchased by Henry Wellcome at Sotheby's sale 13/5/1919 lot 1608.
