The Virgin, crowned and holding the Christ Child, stands in a sunburst between parted clouds. Around her crown are twelve stars (eleven visible). Underfoot she crushes the serpent which encircles the globe of the earth. A cherub on the left points down to the snake and another on the right points up to Christ
