Description

An achromatic microscope made for Joseph Jackson Lister by James Smith in 1826. The item was presented to the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum by the Lister family in March 1927 and accessioned in 1949 (accession number R234/1949). It is now held by the Science Museum (object number A54204).
