Reproduction of an illustration of Vallée de San Juan del Oro, Bolivia, by J. Denis from the publication Weddell, Hugh Algernon (1819-1877): Histoire naturelle des Quinquinas : monographie du genre Cinchona suivie d’une description du genre Cascarilla et de quelques autres plantes de la même tribu, 1849. The illustration was possibly reproduced as part of the printed books lent by the Linnean Society, London, and exhibited in Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930 hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The publication is listed as exhibit no. 184 in the souvenir catalogue. Wellcome Collection holds an edition of the same publication. Related images: M0001765
