What was my astonishment to hear from her husband, that notwith¬ standing her weakness dur¬ ing the six fumigations, they had produced such an effect, that she had begun to rise from her bed, to walk with¬ out crutches, to lift her spoon to her mouth, and to knit. I encouraged her to begin again. After having taken ten baths, she came to my house on foot, and without crutches, from a distant quar¬ ter of the town, and return¬ ed in the same manner after the 11th fumigation.
