    The general sanitary inspection of the District continued satis- factorily, but was hampered to some extent by delay in bringing the statf up to full establishment following a resignation. Post war difficulties continued to cause delay in the remedying of defects found by the Inspectors, and were responsible at times for a feeling of frustration. The year was noteworthy foi' a very dry summer, and the Council delivered over 666,000 gallons of water to houses lacking a main supply in order to mitigate the hardship to families in such homes. In conclusion I desire to record my gratitude for the support of the Members of the Council, and the Chief Officers of the Council throughout the year. My thanks are due also to the staff of the Department for their loyal help, and in particular to the Senior Sanitary Inspector, Mr. A. L.
