About this work

Description

In this picture, hand exercises are being demonstrated (lower hands) to a leprosy patient with paralysis of intrinsic muscles of the hand (upper hands). The patient is being shown how to passively flex the metacarpophalangeal joints to improve the efficiency of finger extensor muscles. Following on from this the patient should learn to extend the interphalangeal joints.
