Black and white reproduction of a portrait of Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward (1791-1868), English doctor and inventor of the Wardian case for transporting plants, standing against a botanical background. The reproduction was made from the original oil painting by J. P. Knight, approximately 1856, in the Linnean Society, London and is not held by Wellcome Collection.
