    Dufrene's Apparatus for Administering Vapour Baths. hands and seals, should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be tiled in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said 5 Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said Hector Auguste Dufrene, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement, reference being had to the Drawing hereto 10 annexed, and to the figures and letters marked thereon, that is to say:— The Invention communicated to me consists in the construction and arrangement of an improved portable apparatus for administering vapour baths, either in the bed of an invalid or in an arm chair. 15 I will proceed to first describe the construction and arrangement of the improved apparatus applied to an arm chair, by reference to Pigure 1 of the accompanying Drawing which represents the apparatus open. A is the back of the chair; D, the caned seat; G and D, perforated spiral pipes for distributing the steam through the apparatus; E, stove 20 to receive the spirit lamp for heating the apparatus; E, G, foot rest; H, K, doors; I, opening for the introduction of the stove behind the apparatus. Eigure 2 represents the arm chair shut up. Eigure 4 is a detached view of the stove and perforated spiral 25 pipes. Eigure 3 shews a stove in detail in which a perforated warming pan A for distributing the heat is employed in place of the perforated spiral pipes shewn in Eigure 4. B, 0, pipes connecting the warming pan with the stove; D, regulator; E, stove; E, slide on which the stove is 30 placed ; G, lamp. Either of the stoves Eigures 3 and 4 may be employed in the apparatus. A similar internal arrangement is employed in the bed apparatus. Eigure 5 represents the improved apparatus applied to a bed. a is the steam discharge pipe ; B, G, is a cover of zinc placed on the bed and 35 closed by a waterproof cloth which can be drawn along a slide; D, stove; E, lamp with two burners which pass into the stove.
