About this work

Description

The insecticidal properties of DDT were discovered by Paul Hermann Müller working for J.R. Geigy A.G. in Basel in 1939. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1948 for his discovery. DDT was much used in World War II to suppress insect-borne diseases. Since then, owing to its toxic qualities, its use has been controversial
