28 May, 1937. Copy letter from J A Hill to all senior staff, at home and overseas, advising that Walker-Leigh has been elected as a Director and appointed Assistant Managing Director, from 20 May.

22 November, 1937. Extracts from Minutes of Board Meetings (1935-37) referring to the appointment of a Managing Director. Extract for 20 June, 1937, records that it was resolved that Walker-Leigh be appointed as Assistant Managing Director.

30 November, 1937. Circular letter from J A Hill to all senior staff, at home and overseas, advising that, as from 26 November 1937, Walker-Leigh is appointed Joint Managing Director, with James Gibbs, who is retiring from office not later than September 1939.
