As regards the quantity of semen emitted at one time, the difficulty of forming a cor- rect estimate is well shown by the difference in the calculations made by different ob- servers. For example, the average quantity is given by Liegeois as i to 3 grammes; by Austin Flint as half a drachm to a drachm; by Mantegazza as 0-75 to 6 cubic centi- metres ; by Duval as 1 to 8 grammes; by Ultzmann as 10 to 15 grammes; and by Leopold Casper as 5 to 20 grammes. Thus Ultzmann’s and Casper’s estimates are seen to be far above the others.
