    The Earl of Northbrook again accepted the office of Chairman of the Court of Governors, and his invaluable assistance and advice have been of the greatest service to the Hospital on many occasions. Owing to reasons of health, Mr. H. J. Godwin resigned his appointment as Surgeon to the Hospital after 24 years’ service on the Honorary Medical Staff. As a mark of appreciation of his services, Mr. Godwin has been appointed Honorary Consulting Surgeon to the Hospital, with six complimentary beds in the Surgical Ward. Mr. B. H. Pidcock, F.R.C.S., the Honorary Assistant Surgeon, has been appointed Honorary Surgeon to fill the vacancy thus created. Mr. L. B. Keyser, who was for so many years Treasurer to the Hospital, felt it necessary to sever his connection with the Committee owing to ill health. The invaluable services which he has rendered to the Hospital are greatly appreciated. Owing to the many calls upon his time, Mr. Noel Hanbury felt compelled to resign his position as Chairman of the Committee. Mr. Hanbury was Chairman during the years 1921-1927, and we are deeply grateful to him for all he did for the Hospital during that period. We are pleased that Mr. Hanbury is continuing to serve as a member of the Committee. Sir James Du Boulay also found it necessary to resign his membership of the Committee owing to other duties, and we accord him our sincere thanks for his assistance and sound advice during the time he was a member. During the year the following gentlemen were appointed to fill vacancies on the Committee :—Sir Skinner Turner, and Mr. C. C. A. Hines, wTho was also appointed Assistant Hon. Treasurer. The Committee record, with the greatest regret, the death of Capt. Clayton Mitchell, R.N., at one time Honorary Treasurer to the Hospital; and of Mr. John Nicoll, for many years a generous subscriber to its funds. Miss N. Moore, the Matron, resigned her appointment, and Miss Agnes M. Tinsdeall, Matron of the Great Yarmouth Hospital, has been appointed to succeed her.
