Contemporary film record of the novel and highly controversial methods of physical treatment employed by Drs. Eliot Slater and William Sargant, of the Maudsley Hospital, London, to treat wartime psychiatric cases at the Belmont (Surrey) Emergency Medical Services Hospital between 1940 and 1943. Includes footage of electro-convulsive therapy (without muscle relaxants), insulin coma treatment and 'abreactive drug therapy'.
