Nepal; Kunde hospital in the Khumbu region, 1986. A patient sits on a bench outside. The hospital has an eight-bedded room for long-stay patients plus facilities for their families to care for them (food, laundry and basic hospitality are not provided by the hospital staff). In addition, there is a three-bedded room for overnight stay, a small paediatric unit, and a teaching room. Basic health education classes are held sporadically at the hospital in conjunction with Khumjung Secondary School (built in 1961 and funded by the Himalayan Trust).
