Reproduction of two photographs published in Hutchinson, Walter: Customs of the world : a popular account of the manners, rites and ceremonies of men and women in all countries, volume II, London: Hutchinson, 1913. Photographs of the book plates were acquired by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum and accessioned in 1938 (accession number PHO 10934). The photographs show an item made from plants, feathers, sticks and other materials in a field, described by Hutchinson as being a charm against thieves
