About this work

Description

In the centre, a man 'drawing' a cart past a dental surgery, in which a dentiste (Monsr. Curedent) can be seen 'drawing' a patient's tooth. On the first floor is a 'Drawing academy'. Next door, a public house in which a man 'draws' a cork from a wine bottle, and a barmaid 'draws' beer from a pump

Colour illustrated by a 'coloured' man (African); form illustrated perhaps by a city type familiar with 'form' (etiquette), or a horse-racing man familiar with horses' form (racing quality); space illustrated by a fat person looking out to sea; order illustrated by a stern schoolmistress keeping a class in order)
