About this work

Description

Possibly taken from a book or a double sided broadside showing two murders, no. 1 and 2 in a series called: Illustrations of street art. Thomas Drory is strangling Jael Denny with a rope, under a tree in a field on the front. His right knee is pressing on her abdomen and she is lying on the floor. On the other side, Captain Lawson ("a cock") is being stabbed in the heart by a woman in a living room. Dress indicates this is early to mid 19th century, probably the 1840s.
