Dated 6 October, 1691, and signed by: Franciscus Jonas, Praeses; Franciscus Andreas à Calin, Prosyndicus; Comes Alexander Borromaeus [1625-1708], Promotor. Endorsed by Carolus Torta, Doctor of Law. Approved 15 February, 1697 by: Petrus de Calvis, Prior of The College of Physicians, and Joseph Marcobruni, Consiliarius. Further approved 17 February, 1697 by Pietro Gelli, Professor; Angelo Memo, Professor; and Ugo Costa, Professor. Signed by Ettore Tron, Notarius. Written by Rochus Maria Castelli, Scriptor to the University. Produced in Padua.

1 volume 4 ll. 4to. 24 × 18 cm. [36 × 22 cm.]. On vellum. Original calf-gilt arabesque Venetian decorated binding, with appended red wax seal (defective) in metal case, cover wanting. On the verso of the first leaf is an emblazoned coat of arms in gold and blue. Text in black and gold, within an ornamental border in blue and gold on fol. 2r, and within plain gold rules for the rest of the leaves.

Biographical note

J. Stupanus belonged to a medical family of Italian origin, who migrated to Switzerland for religious reasons: he probably practised at Basle.
