About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Massive style, depicting a landscape with a river or lake in the middle distance and houses or sheds in the foreground. Rita Simon stated that the artist was, "a woman day-patient, who did very well in therapy. In the middle distance is a kind of cliff with a gully representing mental problems still to be overcome. The painting was done just before discharge. The person is stable enough and in contact with her emotions".

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The date has been taken from other works in the section.
